“She’s The Sun” is the latest single from Glasgow’s dream-pop darlings Pedalo, set for release on July 24th, 2025.
The single is inspired by the sun-drenched soundscapes of Alvvays, but Pedalo makes it their own with a distinctly Scottish emotional core—equal parts hope and hesitation. Clocking in at just over three minutes, “She’s The Sun” is a slow burning tune that builds from gentle, reverb-soaked verses into a soaring, cinematic chorus. The lyrics tell the story of holding your breath for someone who might never turn around, and the band’s signature dual vocals—delicate and raw—carry that tension with grace. The outro, layered with ambient textures and glistening guitar lines, feels like a sunset fading into memory… however to me, this reminds me somewhat of The Beautiful South mixed with a good bit of Wolf Alice & Boy Genius thrown in for good measure – but with their own Scottish twist!
While I personally lean toward heavier guitar sounds, I can still appreciate the musicality and structure of this track. It’s not something I’d typically choose to listen to, but that’s purely a matter of personal taste. That said, if you’re a fan of this genre, I genuinely think it’s worth checking out when it drops on July 24th.
The band consists of Beth, Charlotte, Nick, Calum, and Callum formed in 2022 and have been carving out their place in Scotland’s indie scene ever since. Their chemistry is obvious—on stage and in the studio—and it’s that shared creative spark that gives their music its emotional depth. They’ve played sold-out shows across the country, from Sneaky Pete’s in Edinburgh to The Poetry Club in Glasgow, and earned a well-deserved spot, on Vic Galloway’s “25 Scottish Artist to watch in 2025.” Their debut EP “Migration” turned heads, and they were championed by BBC Introducing Scotland, where “She’s The Sun” made its radio debut on July 4th. Host Phoebe IH called it “summer ready,” and they are spot on—it’s the kind of tune that belongs on a festival stage!
