Aberdonian rockers DeadFire brings the energy with their latest single ‘Big Mountain’. At just under four minutes, the track offers a wild ride from beginning to end, making for one unforgettable listen.
The band don’t need anything fancy for their music. Forget big arrangements or grand recording studios. Instead, the quintet are redefining rock, stripping it back to basics and my word, rock has never sounded so good.
Tunk’s drums come racing in before the rest of the band quickly follow suit, grabbing you straight into the heart of the song. The whole track is gritty, bursting with energy and undeniably stunning. ‘Big Mountain’s lyrical genius, in
cluding the likes of “I feel a change is coming like a shift in the wind / I stand upon this mountain, this peak is mine”, makes you feel as though you can conquer the world and is delivered excellently by vocalist, Charlie.
Just when you think it couldn’t get any better, the tune quiets slightly with Oi’s growling bass taking centre stage before Alec comes swooping in with an insanely hard-hitting guitar solo, propelling the song to astronomical heights. While talking about Alec, it’s impossible to not mention the other guitarist, Dave. Helping to craft unforgettable melodies and sonic hooks, he builds the solid foundations for which the track sits upon.
For fans of bands such as Pantera, Small Town Titans and Dead Air, DeadFire should be added to any rock lover’s playlists and gracing main-stages across the globe.
