What can you pitch?
We consider story ideas from Scotland, elsewhere in the UK and further afield when they're relevant to our readers and contributors. Here's the kind of information that helps an editor decide whether to take a closer look.
- New music: a single, EP or album, with a listening link, release date, artist background and the story behind the music.
- Live coverage: an upcoming concert or festival, with date, venue, city, line-up and accreditation information where appropriate.
- Interviews: an artist, band or creative with a clear angle, relevant dates and availability.
- Arts and culture: a film, theatre, festival or other cultural story with a distinct reason to cover it.
- Photography and media: a relevant event or visual feature, including who can provide access or authorised images.
What to include in your email
- Artist or organisation name and a short, accurate introduction.
- What you're requesting: a review, interview, live coverage or news consideration.
- The release or event date, city and venue if applicable.
- One working listening link (Spotify, Bandcamp, SoundCloud, YouTube or another accessible player), plus a press-kit or artwork link where available.
- Contact details and anything relevant to the editorial angle. Please use links rather than large attachments.
A concise, specific pitch is more useful than a generic mass press release. If it's a gig, tell us why that particular performance is worth covering and whether a photographer or writer would have access.
How editorial consideration works
Qulture chooses what to cover based on editorial interest, available contributors and scheduling. Submitting a pitch is not a promise of a review, interview, article, positive verdict or press pass. We do not describe a submission as published until an editor has actually approved and released it.
This is an editorial contact route, not a paid-placement checkout. You do not need to register for a reader or contributor account to email a pitch. Please don't send private streaming passwords or embargoed material without making the conditions clear.
